Withamside United Parish

Welcoming, Worshipping and Witnessing in the name of Christ.

Welcome to Our Website

Withamside United Parish – celebrating all that is good and of God within our community.

Welcome to the Withamside United Parish, named for the River Witham,  which meanders through or around our eight villages. We are home to six formal churches in Aubourn, Bassingham, Carlton le Moorland, Norton Disney, Stapleford and Thurlby, and one informal cafe-style church in Witham St Hughs.

Whether you are looking for the times of church services or to enquire about a christening or a wedding we hope that you find what you are looking for on this website.  If not, please feel free to get in touch via email or phone (01522 788652).

Please Pray for Ukraine

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York’s prayer for Ukraine:

God of peace and justice,

We pray for the people of Ukraine today.

We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.

We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,

that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.

We pray for those with power over war or peace,

for wisdom, discernment and compassion

to guide their decisions.

Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.

We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Amen.

     Summer Services

Dear All

This is a reminder that all services will be held at Carlton Church in July and August
to enable the plaster work at St Michaels to be completed.
This will start from Sunday July 3rd.

St Michael’s Church will remain open as usual and Coffee Mornings
and Waste Not Want Not meetings will also continue to take place as normal.

Best wishes

The weekend will be a wonderful celebration of the talents of people
who live in the Withamside Parish – every stall is taken and there will be a wide
variety of exhibits to enjoy.

The new toilet, baby changing facilities and servery are completed and in use.
Light refreshments will be available and also activities for children.

DO JOIN US!
WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU!

Parish Harvest Festival
on Sunday September 18th 10-30 a.m.
in St Michaels Church

Everyone is welcome to attend. As in past years we will be collecting tins
and dried foods for the Lincoln Community Larder.
It is really important that we continue to support this initiative as the last time
I went one of the volunteers said that demand was outstripping the amount of food being donated.
You can also donated money to the Lincoln Community
Larder and they can then use this to buy food.

Withamside United Parish 200 Club

We are relaunching the 200 club across the whole parish.

In the past the 200 club has been a successful way of raising funds for the parish and I hope that you will be able to take part.

If you’d like to join in, then it would be helpful if you could print a copy of the attached application form. If not, then these will be available from myself, John Rowlands, or in church.

Once you have returned the completed application form to me and have made your payment, your number(s) will be allocated and will be entered in the next draw. We are hoping that the first draw will be made at the September coffee morning.

Thank you and good luck!
Diane

Christmas card design competition

Whilst your minds will most likely be focused on your summer breaks, we would like to warmly invite
you to participate in designing this year’s Christmas card. We suspect there are many budding artists,
designers and photographers – perhaps even cross-stitchers – amongst you who may be looking for
their next project.
The chosen card will be sent out to each church in the diocese from the Bishops and Archdeacons. Prizes
will be awarded to the winner and to runners-up.
The submission date for entries is Friday 30 September. Please ensure that your design is an original
piece of work and the size is no larger than 151 mm x 151 mm. Please include a title or description of
your artwork, as well your name and parish, which will be printed on the card.
Submissions can be made via email (bishops.admin@lincoln.anglican.org) or posted to: The Bishops’
Office, Edward King House, Minster Yard, Lincoln LN2 1PU. Please include your contact details within
your submission to ensure that the winners can be notified.
We look forward to seeing a range of creative and inspirational designs from across the diocese and may
we take this opportunity to wish you all a restful and refreshing summer.
