About Us

Withamside United Parish is united in its diversity. The name comes from the River Witham which meanders its way through the villages within the Parish. It is a rural Parish but is not isolated and has easy access to Lincoln and Newark. Withamside United Parish is a Single-Parish Benefice comprising a group of six traditional churches and encompassing the village development of Witham St Hughs.Witham St Hughs has a Cafe Style Church which meets in the Village Hall . There are seven established villages plus the newer village of Witham St Hughs.

Collectively there are approximately 1,500 households within these seven villages. Witham St Hughs has grown exponentially over the past

18 years and now has a housing stock of some 2,000 dwellings with planned development for a further 2,000 properties. This mixture of old and new provides an exciting and challenging mission field for the ministry of the church in Withamside. The Parochial Church Council is at the heart of the organisation of the Withamside United Parish and provides a strong lead during our current interregnum. Our forms of worship across the Parish are diverse and inclusive, reflecting a breadth of approach to worship and faith. Music and singing are an essential part of our worship and are reflected in many of our services.

Our Mission Statement

Withamside United Parish seeks to build welcoming, worshipping and witnessing Christian communities to the glory of God.

Welcome is about our acceptance of each other and our gifts as we develop the ministry of our church communities and is also about our relationship with those who are outside the life of our church communities.

Worship is about each of us living each day to the glory of God and is, therefore, not only about church services.

Witness is the daily task of living in the light of our faith – supported by the love and prayers of one another.
