St. Peter’s Church, Norton Disney
With Norman roots seen in the pillars of the north arcade, the church’s most significant features are the monuments to members of the Disney family in the century. Though Walt Disney visited the village in the 1940’s he was not a 14th direct descendant of the Disney’s of Norton Disney.
Today the church building is the spiritual home of the St. Peter’s church family.
The church now has disabled access, toilet and baby changing facilities. A servery has also been installed enabling the church to be available to host more social events.
Dear All
It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Alan Haines died this morning.
Alan served St Peter’s Church at Norton Disney faithfully for many years as churchwarden. He was an active and loyal member of the Withamside United Parish. It was under Alan’s stewardship that the new toilet and servery were built at St Peters and the bell tower screen constructed. Alan was a historian and was very proud of the fact that St Peter’s Church is a nationally recognised historical building. Over the years Alan organised many social events at Norton Disney including the famous Jazz Band concerts.
Alan’s departing is the end of an era at St Peter’s Church and he will be sadly missed.
