The UK’s presidency of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) which was held in Glasgow this year continues until the next COP to be held in Egypt next November. The COP26 summit brought parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. 192 world leaders gathered in Glasgow to discuss how to tackle the climate crisis.
The decisions they made will affect everyone, but will have the biggest consequences for those experiencing and battling the devastating impacts of the crisis.
Please continue to pray for those who are carrying out changes of policy that were agreed and also take a moment to consider what action we can take ourselves. Each one of us can make some simple changes to reduce our own environmental footprints.

Prayer is essential!
The former head of the UN talks wrote an open letter of thanks after the Paris COP, which started “For those who prayed …” recognising the role prayer played at those talks, so …

A Prayer for the COP26 climate summit and it’s ongoing work:
Loving God,
We praise your name with all you have created.
You are present in the whole universe,
and in the smallest of creatures.
We acknowledge the responsibilities you have placed upon us
as stewards of your creation.
May the Holy Spirit inspire all political leaders at COP26 as they
seek to embrace the changes needed to foster a more sustainable society.
Instil in them the courage and gentleness to implement fairer solutions
for the poorest and most vulnerable,
and commit their nations to the care of our common home.
We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ your Son.
Amen
