A lot of you will know that reading is a passion of mine. I would read all the time given the opportunity and I read anything, cornflake boxes, notices pinned up anywhere, instructions on the back of boxes as well as books. One of the added delights of reading is sharing thoughts and insights of what I have been reading with anyone I can catch. I like it best if they have read it too. It is interesting to compare notes and see where we came to the same conclusion about some event and where there is another interpretation of the event. I have often heard the same things about films but my preference is books and my image of what the characters look like and the scenes that are described. Book clubs are good with these bouncing off thoughts and opinions but not everyone is able to meet at the designated time or even wants to meet others, some are happiest sitting in the background and just listening. With this in mind I thought an on-line book club would be fun. We could all read the same book and just leave comments for others to see. My choice of books would be novels with a bit of a faith feel to them, not big religious tomes that you can’t read in bed because if you fell asleep reading it you would probably be knocked unconscious when the book fell on you. My book for November is Miss Garnet’s Angel by Salley Vickers. This is the story of an older lady (60’s I think) who travels to Venice for a few months. It is a feel-good story. It is a book that once you have it, you end up passing it on to someone else to read because you have raved about it so much, but then they pass it on for the same reason. Hopefully lots of people will want to discuss it and to do so there is a Facebook page Withamside Parish Book Club. I wish you all happy hours of reading

God Bless
