Last week I was trying to free up some space on my laptop and ended up getting lost in the hundreds of photos I have on it. It was great fun remembering all the times and events. One of the files I enjoyed was pictures of Ibiza. In 2014 my sister and I went on our own to the island for a holiday. We were both in our late 60s and had never been on holiday together without our husbands. Obviously at the airport we were given lots of instructions from them about what we could, and definitely couldn’t, do. We did listen but, in the excitement, forgot it all! We spent hours in the sea jumping the waves and squealing when we were knocked over by them. We acquired a Lilo, which neither of us have had before, for playing in the sea. I have to say that we never managed to actually get on it, but that may have been because we were laughing too much. It did seem to be the entertainment for the whole of the beach. For the whole two weeks we laughed and giggled non-stop. It spread out to give happiness to lots of the other guests and that resulted in plenty of free drinks. All in all, a wonderful holiday and one to be talked about over the years. We played like children and laughed like children. There are several well quoted sayings in the bible about children and child like behaviour. Jesus had a real affinity with children and their wonder and awe of life. He says that we have to enter his kingdom as children. I don’t think he means by making sandcastles or even jumping waves like my sister and I did, but by having an open mind and not judging and being trusting. Perhaps losing our inhibitions and self-consciousness whilst on holiday is a good starting point. I hope all your holidays will bring similar happy memories when you look back on them.

This months book is Tears of Amber by Sofía Segovia. This is a book that is really sad in places but has hope running all the way through it.

God Bless
