February is a gentle month, between winter’s quiet and spring’s promise. The days are slowly stretching out, but not fast enough for me, but even the smallest hint of extra light feels like a gift. After January’s really cold weather that gave us plenty of time to sit inside and reflect on all aspects of life, February seems to want us to look for warmth in the places where it quietly lives in friendship, in kindness, and in the love, we share with others. With Valentine’s Day at its centre, this month naturally turns our thoughts toward love. But love is far more than roses and romance. It is found in the presence of those who walk through life with us, year after year. For me, that includes my wonderful friends with whom I’ve been holidaying for nearly twenty years now. We’ve travelled to many places together, and each trip has become another page in our shared story. This month, we’re looking forward to our next adventure, a holiday to Liverpool. It’s not just the destination that excites me, but the companionship. There is something deeply comforting about spending time with people who know you so well, who have laughed with you, supported you, and stood beside you through all of life. These friendships are a blessing, a reminder that love often shows itself in loyalty, shared memories, and the simple joy of being together. This month also encourages us to notice the small acts of kindness that brighten our days. A thoughtful message, a shared joke, a warm cup of tea or coffee, these gestures carry a quiet power. They remind us that we can each be a source of light for someone else, especially during the final stretch of winter. Through it all, God’s love always remains the steady warmth beneath the season. Even when the days feel slow to change, His presence is constant, guiding us gently toward renewal. As we move through February, perhaps we can take a moment to give thanks for the people who journey with us. In their love, support, and friendship, we find a glimpse of the hope that spring will soon bring. And maybe we can do more to be that person that helps others too.
This month’s book recommendation is The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. It is a charming mystery celebrating true love and friendship. And a good murder as well
God Bless
