Well the Vaughan household are still on a high after Lincoln City securing promotion to the Championship. As I write these notes the club’s focus is on securing the title, not just getting promoted.
This will be the first time in over 60 years Lincoln have been in the second tier of English football, and for many fans something they would have never dreamt of.
One of my favourite theologians notes that wherever we experience any form of love there we experience God. So often we think of divine love as being something precious and so otherworldly. Whereas if we took the Christmas and Easter stories seriously then it is the ordinary where we experience love is of God.
This sense of being open to love is perhaps something our world needs right now, with wars and rumours of wars all around us; with our world facing massive environmental challenges. Just perhaps we need to be opened to love in the ordinary, that is for everyone, and there we will find the seeds of global change. Seeing the precious and beautiful as close by, leading to realisation that domination and superiority are not the real answers. Hopefully, by the next time I write Lincoln will have gone up as champions.
