Welcome to Our Website
Withamside United Parish – celebrating all that is good and of God within our community.
Welcome to the Withamside United Parish, named for the River Witham, which meanders through or around our eight villages. We are home to six formal churches in Aubourn, Bassingham, Carlton le Moorland, Norton Disney, Stapleford and Thurlby, and one informal cafe-style church in Witham St Hughs.
Whether you are looking for the times of church services or to enquire about a christening or a wedding we hope that you find what you are looking for on this website. If not, please feel free to get in touch via email or phone (01522 788652).
Please Pray for Ukraine
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York’s prayer for Ukraine:
God of peace and justice,
We pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.

This will start from Sunday July 3rd.
St Michael’s Church will remain open as usual and Coffee Mornings

Best wishes

St Mary’s Carlton-le-Moorland is Reopening
The Lambeth Conference, 26th July – 8th August 2022
Every ten years there is a gathering of the Bishops and their spouses from all over the Anglican Communion. Currently 658 bishops and 480 bishops’ spouses are expected to attend the conference in Canterbury in person, and more are in the process of registering to participate virtually due to concerns over COVID-19 and/or travel visa issues. They will meet daily for ‘ shared prayer, Bible Study, and discussion. This year the conference theme is “God’s Church for God’s World” and we are asked to pray for the conference and those taking part. The following prayer comes from The Brotherhood of St Gregory in The Episcopal Church of America:
O God, by your grace and Spirit you have raised up witnesses and servants in many lands and cultures: Pour out your blessing upon the churches and provinces of the Anglican Communion, and upon their leaders as they gather for fellowship in the Lambeth Conference, that their diversity may enrich their common witness and service to the honour and glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Another date for your diary! BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, SATURDAY 27TH AND SUNDAY 28TH AUGUST.
This will be held in St. Mary’s Church over the two days and will celebrate the art and craft skills of local people. There will be a limited number of stands available and we will aim to represent as many different arts and crafts as possible. We will be providing light refreshments and there will be activities for children available. The new toilet, baby changing facilities and servery will be in place.
The weekend will be a wonderful celebration of the talents of people who live in the Withamside Parish.
There will be more details in local magazines over the coming months, if you are wishing to express an interest then contact Andrew and Ingrid Alsop (01522 788748). We have already had quite a number of people come forward with a wide variety of talents!
